Nautor Swan Returns to 22-Meter Segment With New Swan 73
Nautor Swan has confirmed its return to the 22-meter segment with the Swan 73, a yacht designed to bridge the gap between versatile cruisers and the maxi yacht category. Built at the shipyard’s Technology Centre in Pietarsaari, the project represents a key milestone under Sanlorenzo’s new ownership strategy for the iconic Finnish brand.
Naval architect Germán Frers utilized more than 40 years of collaboration with the yard to develop a vinylester-infused hull reinforced with carbon fiber. The design focuses on a responsive sail plan and slim hull lines, aiming for a yacht that remains stable during offshore cruising yet capable of exceeding 20 knots in performance mode.
The deck layout emphasizes ease of handling with a clean, asymmetrical cockpit and an offset companionway to improve movement. A notable innovation is the optional rigid roof over the guest cockpit, which can create a climate-controlled 'winter garden' for year-round use.
The deck is further divided into a private foredeck lounge, a dedicated aft sailing cockpit optimized for short-handed crews, and a stern beach club with a platform and tender garage.
Inside, Blend Studio has introduced a refined aesthetic using Canaletto walnut and light fabrics. The layout is adaptable, offering three or four guest cabins with a forward master suite that can be configured with a walk-in wardrobe. To ensure privacy, the galley and crew quarters are positioned aft.
Scheduled for a 2027 launch, the Swan 73 is a centerpiece of the brand’s upcoming 60th anniversary. It targets owners seeking a 'mini maxi' that balances the luxury of a large yacht with the agility required for owner-driven sailing.
