Sunseeker Ocean 82 Enclosed Review: The British Masterclass in Luxury
At the 2025 Cannes Yachting Festival, we had the opportunity to put the new Sunseeker Ocean 82 Enclosed through its paces. First unveiled at the 2024 Southampton Boat Show under the designation Sunseeker 156, the model generated considerable buzz upon its debut and it is easy to see why. With Ocean 82 Enclosed, the British shipyard has a serious contender on its hands in the increasingly competitive 80 to 85 foot segment.
Bearing Sunseeker's unmistakable design signature, the Ocean 82 Enclosed arrives packed with innovative solutions, all rendered in the brand's characteristically elegant and measured British manner. In a world where the boundaries of technology, design and lifestyle are in constant flux, Sunseeker has used this addition to the Ocean range to set its sights on a new benchmark, one defined by greater spaciousness, a deeper connection with the water, and an uncompromising degree of owner customisation.
Pocket superyacht concept
Spanning 25.14 metres in length and 6.25 metres in beam, the Ocean 82 Enclosed offers an expansive sense of space, while its 156 gross tonnes, the figure from which the model draws its original designation, guarantee a comfortable, luxurious and seaworthy experience on the water. With its commanding profile, the Ocean 82 Enclosed is a true pocket superyacht, and it is precisely that elevated silhouette that reveals the defining element of its design.
The expansive glazed surfaces emphasise the yacht's volume and sense of space, turning the generous freeboard into both an aesthetic and functional asset, while the curvature of the hull tapering toward the stern gives the vessel a dynamic, almost organic character.
Al fresco living: Beach club & modular cockpit
The stern is given over entirely to a generous beach club, centred around a hydraulic platform finished in teak, large enough to accommodate a Williams 435 tender and a Jet Ski. A sliding stern sofa, a hallmark feature across the entire Ocean range, reinforces the platform's role as the social heart of the boat, while dedicated storage for two Sea Bobs keeps equipment neatly stowed. Tucked discreetly into the platform's side is a built-in grill, and broad hydraulic swim steps along with a passerelle complete the starboard side of the stern platform.
Stepping aboard to the main deck, the cockpit on the tested model was furnished with a low-profile Minotti seating arrangement, configurable to suit the owner's preference and designed to keep sightlines from the saloon clear to the horizon.
The cockpit's side section can be fitted with a refrigerator and optional icemaker, or alternatively configured as a second helm station, a practical consideration given that the boat comes with a single helm position as standard, located on the upper deck, making marina manoeuvring considerably more straightforward.
Sunseeker Ocean 82 Enclosed: Interior spaces & design
The real wow moment comes the instant you step into the saloon. Sunseeker has engineered the entire main deck as a single uninterrupted level, free of steps and transverse bulkheads, and wrapped in full 360-degree glazing. The feeling of space that greets you on entry from the stern simply has no equal among yachts of this size.
The tested model featured a completely open layout divided into three distinct zones: a saloon aft, a centrally positioned galley with a staircase connecting the decks, and a dining area forward, complemented by a separate open-air lounge.
Sunseeker offers four main deck layout options, including the possibility of placing the owner's cabin forward, which brings the total cabin count to five.
What unites all four configurations is the positioning of the galley and the staircase connecting the upper and lower decks at the centre of the boat. The galley itself is impressively proportioned, with doors opening onto the side passageways, allowing the crew to prepare and serve meals with maximum efficiency while leaving guests in the saloon completely undisturbed.
Enclosed flybridge: All-weather upper deck luxury
A broad staircase leads up to the upper deck, where this particular example features an enclosed helm station, the detail from which the Enclosed designation in the model's name derives. The helm offers excellent visibility and is accompanied by a second enclosed saloon, along with open terraces fore and aft designed to accommodate seating arrangements or even a jacuzzi.
Electrically operated side and roof windows ensure the space remains well lit and ventilated under way, while providing reliable shelter from rain and wind when needed. Sunseeker has also equipped the area with a dedicated air conditioning system, a bar with a wine cooler, and a telescopic sunshade for the aft section of the flybridge, ensuring comfortable use throughout the day.
The central console is dominated by a pair of 22-inch Garmin monitors, and the tested model was further equipped with a MAN Aventics joystick docking system and Sleipner bow thrusters. Dynamic stabilisation is handled by Humphree stabilisers, while two Cummins Onan 27 kW generators take care of onboard power.
Cabin layout
The lower deck is organised into four separate cabins, each with its own bathroom, along with a dedicated crew quarters accessible from the side passageway, ensuring complete privacy for the owner and guests.
The owner's cabin is positioned amidships and spans the full beam of the boat. The double bed is oriented longitudinally, while large side windows offer sweeping views of the sea whether you are lying in bed or seated at the in-cabin desk.
The VIP cabin, located forward, is only marginally less generous than the owner's suite, yet retains an impressive sense of space in its own right. The remaining two cabins offer a twin berth configuration, each with its own private bathroom.
On the tested model, refined materials and light wood panelling further enhance the visual volume and elegance of the interior, while a series of meticulously considered details speak clearly to the shipyard's considerable effort to bring a truly distinctive and authorial yacht to market.
Sea trial: Propulsion, performance & range
The Ocean 82 Enclosed comes standard with twin MAN V8 engines producing 1300 hp, while the tested model was fitted with the optional MAN V12 units developing 1650 hp, paired with V-drive transmissions. With this powertrain, top speed reaches 25 knots, while range at a cruising speed of eight to ten knots is a respectable 900 nautical miles.
With the Ocean 82 Enclosed, Sunseeker has made a bold and considered step toward a modern vision of life aboard, one where new owners demand generous, multifunctional spaces that deliver a genuine sense of freedom, privacy and security.
Advances in technology and the use of new materials in both construction and yacht management are presenting shipyards with both the opportunity and the challenge of achieving volumes and performance figures that, just a few years ago, would have been considered unthinkable in the 80 to 85-foot range.
