GX Superyachts has unveiled the GX38 Voyager, a 38-metre expedition superyacht designed with a strong emphasis on responsibility and innovation. Coming hot on the heels of the young brand’s debut 42m, already in build, and its GX34 hybrid yacht, the new model marks a shift towards adventure yachting in severe weather conditions. It has been developed at the specific request of a committed client.

Market-leading hybrid efficiency

In line with GX Superyachts’ philosophy of responsible yachting, the GX38 Voyager aims at extreme efficiency with enhancing comfort on board. To that end, the powertrain will use GX’s proprietary hybrid propulsion system, dovetailing extensive solar panels, diesel generators and electric motors to reduce carbon emissions by as much as 30 per cent compared to conventional diesel power.

With optional Azimuth pod drives and a class approved ice strengthened hull, unprecedented on an aluminium hull, the GX38 Voyager is conceived from the start to venture far off the beaten track. It can manage speeds up to 16 knots if necessary, but in hybrid navigation mode the range at 6 knots is a staggering 10,000 nautical miles. It means that the yacht is capable of truly globetrotting performance.

Her lines reflect her vocation, with a generous 8.2m beam in the current project and the option of an ultra-wide 9m (or more) beam under development. Designed to be available with either a traditional hull or the ultra-wide configuration, she offers more interior volume towards the bow and a long, open aft deck.

Similar to her bigger sister, the GX38 Voyager will offer fabulous ensuite accommodation across 5-6 cabins, supported by a crew of 6-7. Flexible interior configuration is the name of the game, so everything from cabins to social spaces like the large saloon and dining area can be customised.

'GX Superyachts is delighted to have unveiled the GX38 Voyager, which is the fruit of months of work with a very motivated client,' said founder Vladimir Zinchenko. 'It extends our unique commitment to responsible yachting into the adventure sector for the first time, with a yacht that is equally capable of heading to high latitudes or remote areas – all in exceptional comfort.'

Flexible layout

Marco Casali is renewing his association with the brand as the interior and exterior designer. This not only ensures a homogenous family feel between the three models launched to date, it also gives the new yacht a wonderful sense of continuity from the interior to the wide exterior decks.

Further details will be published in due course, but GX has revealed that key features will include a lavish owner’s suite at main deck level with VIP cabins below. Options also include: 360 views on an enclosed sundeck saloon for extreme weather conditions or sundeck owners’ cabin with private deck, keeping in mind GX Superyachts unmistakable elegant lines.

A firepit lies at the centre of a foredeck lounge, while the aft deck has been extended to create plenty of room for a comfortable cockpit, a Jacuzzi and lots of storage for tenders and toys. From a submersible to a land vehicle, the possibilities here are very much down to the individual owner. There is even the option of an eagle’s nest under the mast for observing land- and seascapes.
